Principal’s Report
SHANE DUPUY
Now everybody breathe.
To say that this term was a whirlwind would be an understatement. There has been a lot going on over the past 10 weeks so it’s timely that we all get the opportunity to slow down, relax and reset. Students have been working diligently throughout the term and it has been pleasing to hear and see of so many successes throughout the college.
The MultiLit program, led by Mrs. Kerin and Mrs. Olsen has been a huge undertaking. May I take this opportunity to thank not only these 2 outstanding professionals, but also the P-2 teachers who have worked so hard to not only upskill themselves, but also the time they have invested to ensure that the program delivery has been as smooth as possible. To see all lower primary students fully engaged in this highly regarded literacy program at the same time, takes a great deal of organisation and collegial commitment. From all reports, staff are already seeing the benefits of the program and have been able to pinpoint areas of need for individual students. Thanks also must go to our hard-working librarian, Ms. Tania Robinson, who, along with a band of dedicated volunteers, have covered thousands of new readers that the students will have access to from next term.
Our senior students and staff also deserve a break. They have recently completed their internal assessments and exams. From all reports, students have been well-engaged and personal goals academic goals are being achieved. For our Y12 students, there are only 2 terms left before their final exams which finish mid-November. Given we will be in mid-April upon our return from holidays, the time will surely fly by.
Last week, our Y9 cohort could hardly contain their excitement knowing they had completed their final year of Naplan testing. The nationwide testing program, aimed at years 3, 5, 7 and 9, allows students to measure themselves against same age peers across the country. Students completed 4 tests focusing on Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (COL) and Numeracy. This year, there were a few technical difficulties regarding audio files for the Reading and COL test. The governing body, QCAA, were notified and we are expecting to receive a final decision on these issues in the coming weeks. I fully expect to have to disregard the results for those students who experienced these technical issues once results are received around September.
Whilst we have experienced many days of rain this term, it has been pleasing to see that our students have still been able to participate in many activities. Reflection days, school camps, excursions, Rare Disease Day, Mind and Movement activities and individual class events have enabled our students to come together in support of each other and the wider community. Pleasingly, parents have also had the opportunity to come into the classrooms and see for themselves the wonderful learning that has been happening. We look forward to this continuing throughout the year.
Thank you to those parents that responded to the email regarding logins for our new DayMap system. On Monday afternoon, parents were informed of some of the features they can expect to see and access through the parent portal in the coming months. Introducing a new system is a massive undertaking and a steep learning curve for all. Thanks to our IT department of Chris Maker and Simon Kotzur for their knowledge and support of all staff and students whilst we learn to navigate this system. Initially, parents will be able to view their child’s Learning Behaviour Report for Term 1. In time, you will be able to access calendars, student assessment progress, excursion information, general notifications and class updates.

As we embark on the Easter break, I would like to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. I hope this season brings you joy, renewal, and cherished moments with your loved ones.
I would also like to extend my well wishes to our College Basketball team who today leave for Adelaide to play in the Easter Classic Tournament. This event marks a significant opportunity for our team to showcase their talent, dedication, and sportsmanship on a broader stage. As they depart today, they carry not only their skills but also the support of our entire community. I have no doubt that they will represent us with the utmost integrity and passion, making us proud every step of the way. Best of luck to the students, Mr Wright and Coach Jordan.

Student Services
After what has been a very busy term, we are all looking forward to a break in order to recharge for Term 2. Our school’s wellbeing program Grow Your Mind reminds us of the importance of taking care of ourselves over this holiday break. If you get sick you might have a dose of medicine. To stop yourself from catching a cold you may have a dose of vegetables. Well, to protect your mind and boost your wellbeing learn about your brain by using this DOSE acronym. Each letter stands for a different neurotransmitter.
D – Dopamine – Set some small goals each day that you can achieve
O – Oxytocin – Do something kind for someone
S – Serotonin – Practice gratitude
E – Endorphin – Move your body
Library News
Dear Readers
I would like to do a huge shout out to our grandparents and parents who gave up their time over the past few weeks to help the college cover over 2,000 readers for our Junior school’s new InitiaLit reading program. Libby, Jenny, Daryl, Emma, Jess and Ben – we could not have finished this big project without your help.
Term 1 Book Club generated sales of $733 which resulted in reward dollars to the value of $102. Thank you to those families that supported us by purchasing books through Scholastic Book Club. The reward dollars go directly back into the library with new books purchased through Scholastic.
This term has been the biggest term ever for book donations. I have my work cut out for me during the holidays so I can offer students new reads in Term 2. Thank you book donators.
Happy holidays and happy reading,
Miss Tania

A massive congratulations to Huddy H, Tom S, Jarrah S, Bodi A, Xander F, Mason B-G, Tommy B, and Oscar D for securing their spots in the prestigious boys Noosa District Under 12 Football Team. An awesome achievement, with the trial hosting over 80+ students from around the district. Good luck at the next stage boys.
What an incredible achievement from Morgan S, who has been selected for the Noosa District Under 12 Tennis Squad! Morgan competed against numerous other tough competitors on selection day, which was held at Coolum Tennis club. Morgan is part of the PBC Tennis Academy, so it is excellent to see her hard work and dedication paying off. Well done Morgan!
Congratulations to Angus O who has been selected in the under 12 Sunshine Coast Regional AFL team. Angus was also successful in making this same side in 2023 as an 11-year-old. With experience under his belt, Angus will be an unstoppable force at the next stage of competition, go well Angus.
Neve C & Amiely M were successful in making the under 12 female Noosa District Under 12 Football Team. As two passionate footballers, part of the SCSA, it is no surprise to see these girls making this team. For anyone who has seen these athletes compete, they are extremely tenacious, skilled individuals. Good luck at the next stage of competition Neve & Amiely.

Prep
TENIELE ADLER & RACHEL PRESTON
Last week, the preps were lucky enough to enlist the help of Bunnings to plant their very own veggie garden. As part of their local community assistance program, Noosaville Bunnings donated soil, seedlings, compost, mulch and three raised beds. Prep have loved the responsibility of watering and singing to the veggies. It has been a wonderful precursor to our Science topic for next term, ‘features of living things’. To bring an awesome term 1 to a close, we took our very first excursion to the Events Centre, Caloundra to watch a live performance of the well-loved rhyming story Room on the Broom. Highlights from the show included a fire breathing dragon, the cute cat and the funny frog. However, the preppies unanimously agreed that the best bit by far was travelling on the ‘big school bus!’
Year 5
MIA LAYTON
Digital Technology
This term, the Year 5 students have been exploring different materials, systems, tools, and equipment to understand their characteristics and their impact. In the past couple of weeks, the students have been applying their knowledge of the design process by designing and creating a floating craft capable of transporting a few Jenga blocks from one end of a long container to the other. All the students worked well and were thrilled to test their designs. Congratulations to Amiely, Rowan, and Hunter! Their design was a success!
